A Snapshot of Service
in 'A' Company of the Argylls
Tobruk Barracks - 1958

Map of Libya

  from the A&SH tray..........
Stirling Castle, Balaklava platoon drill practice on the esplanade. The platoon Corporal, Jimmy Letham, facing the squad gives the command, 'Squad will move to the right in threes, right turn!' - and points to his right. Some Jocks turned to their left!
Utter chaos and hilarity - followed by much doubling round esplanade with rifles above head.

Argyll brass bed plate This is the Argyll brass plate we placed on our beds during kit inspections.

Our Army number and name were stamped on the centre of it.

Although this example has seen a bit of service, it used to be continually polished with brasso until it was gleaming!
